1. Not spending enough time together
Many people only realize how important it is to spend quality time together once it’s too late. Avoiding quality time is a big mistake in relationships.
They get so caught up in work and other commitments that they gradually drift apart.
Before they know it, they’re living in separate worlds and barely even know each other anymore.
2. Assuming your partner knows how you feel
Not every relationship is a mind reader, so make sure to communicate with your partner what you need/want from them.
If you don’t communicate your feelings clearly in your relationships, it can lead to mistakes.
3. Not compromising
In any relationship, both partners must be willing to give a little. If one person is always giving and the other is always taking, it will create problems down the road.
4. Being defensive
This goes hand-in-hand with compromising; if you’re constantly arguing and nitpicking each other, things will never get resolved. Try and be more understanding and take criticisms constructively.
5. Having unrealistic expectations
This one can go either way; either expecting too much from your partner or expecting too little can lead to problems down the line and is one of the big mistakes in relationships.
6. Keeping score
Nobody’s perfect; we all make mistakes occasionally in our relationships (or sometimes regularly). If you keep track of every single thing your partner does wrong, it will only lead to resentment and arguments later on.
7. Mistakes forgetting that romantic gestures matter
These don’t have to be huge displays of affection (although those are nice, too!). Even something as simple as bringing your partner breakfast in bed can show that you care.
8. Forgiving too easily
On the flip side, some people have a habit of forgiving their partner for anything they do wrong without tackling the issue.
Mistakes in relationships are common, but you can not ignore them.
9. Not being honest about how you’re feeling
Again, communication is key in any relationship! If something’s bothering you, talk about it with your partner instead of keeping it bottled up inside.
10. Settling for less than what you want/deserve
We all know that one person who’s been in a series of crappy relationships with many mistakes.
Don’t let yourself become that person! Be vocal about what you want and deserve from a relationship.
11. Criticizing each other instead of offering support
It’s easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and say things we don’t mean, but taking the time to step back and offer a supportive word can make all the difference.
When we’re feeling overwhelmed or down, a kind word from our partner can be a lifesaver.
Similarly, when our partner makes a mistake, instead of lashing out in anger, offering a word of encouragement can help them to feel better and motivated to do better next time.
12. Staying together for convenience’s sake rather than because you actually still love each other.
This one speaks for itself, really.. if things aren’t good anymore between the two of you, then why stick around?
Ending a relationship isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s better than dragging out the pain unnecessarily.
13. Crossing boundaries
Just because you’re in a relationship doesn’t mean that you get to control every aspect of the other person’s life.
Let them have their space and friends, and don’t try to control them. You’ll be happier if you give each other a little space.
14. Always put yourselves first
It’s natural to want to look out for ourselves and our own needs, but when we’re in a relationship, we also need to think about the other person.
That doesn’t mean we should forget our needs, but we must find a balance. If we’re always focused on ourselves, it can create tension and resentment.
15. Forgetting to have fun
You get so caught up in the day-to-day grind of work, bills, and errands that you forget to enjoy each other’s company.
But fun is essential to any relationship – it keeps the spark alive and helps you connect on a deeper level.
