How to cancel an alarm by voice command
Alarms are a great way to wake up in the morning, but sometimes they can go off at the wrong time. If you have a Google Home, you can easily cancel any alarm that is going off.
To do this, just say, “Hey, Google, cancel my alarm.” This will stop the alarm from sounding.
If you have multiple alarms set, you can also specify which one you want to cancel by saying, “Hey, Google, cancel my 7:00 a.m. alarm.”
How to cancel an alarm from your phone
To cancel an alarm on Google Home from your phone, open the Google Home app and tap the Devices button in the top right corner.
Then, tap the three dots next to your Google Home device and select Settings. Scroll down to the Alarms section and tap the alarm you want to cancel.
On the following screen, tap the trash can icon in the top right corner to delete the alarm. You can also turn off an alarm by saying, “Hey Google, stop” or “Hey Google, turn off my alarm.”
If you have multiple alarms set, you can say, “Hey, Google, which alarm is it?” to have Google Home tell you which alarm is going off.
How to snooze an alarm
Most people are familiar with the standard snooze button on their alarm clock. But what if your alarm is a Google Home?
While you can’t actually hit the snooze button, there is a way to delay your alarm for a few extra minutes of sleep.
Just say, “Hey, Google, snooze my alarm for 10 minutes.” Your alarm will then go off 10 minutes later. You can also use this same method to cancel an alarm entirely.
So if you find yourself hitting the snooze button multiple times, or if you just want to sleep in one day, remember that you can always ask Google for a little extra time.
How to set an alarm
Assuming you have a Google Home device, you can set alarms by voice. Just say, “Hey, Google, set the alarm for 7 am,” and a default sound will go off at that time tomorrow morning.
You can also specify the day of the week, such as “Hey Google, set the alarm for every weekday at 7 am.”
If you want to use a different sound, you can say, “Hey, Google, set the alarm for 7 am with [name of song].”
Google will then search your linked music accounts (e.g., Spotify) for that song and play it when the alarm goes off. You can also snooze or cancel alarms by voice.
How to change the volume of your alarm
To change the alarm volume on your Google Home, simply say, “Hey, Google, turn up/down the alarm volume.” You can also adjust the alarm volume using the Google Home app. Here’s what you need to do:
- Open the Google Home app on your mobile device;
- Tap the Devices icon in the top right corner of the screen (it looks like a group of circles);
- Find and tap on the device that you want to adjust the alarm volume for;
- Under “Alarms,” find and tap on the alarm that you want to adjust;
- In the bottom right corner of the screen, there will be a slider that you can use to adjust the alarm volume;
- Once you’ve got it where you want it, just tap on “OK,” and you’re all set!
If you frequently change the alarm volume, you can create a custom routine that includes your desired alarm settings.
For example, you could create a “Good morning” routine that turns on your coffee maker, raises the blinds, and sets your alarm to a comfortable volume.
That’s all there is to it. Now go forth and wake yourself up (or not) at exactly the volume that you desire.
Google Home is a great device to help you manage simple tasks in your home. And with just a voice command, you can play your favorite song, turn on and off the lights, set and cancel an alarm or play your favorite song.
