The most nostalgic Christmas movies: revisit the classics this Christmas!

There’s something about Christmas movies that just fills us with nostalgia.

Maybe it’s the warm and fuzzy feeling of watching families come together or the hope we feel when we see characters overcome their challenges.

Whatever it is, there’s nothing quite like a good Christmas movie to get us into the holiday spirit! Here are 10 of our all-time favorites.

1. A Christmas Story (1983)

A Christmas Story is one of the most nostalgic Christmas movies out there. It tells the story of Ralphie, a nine-year-old boy who dreams of getting a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.

The movie follows Ralphie as he navigates the perils of childhood, from bullies to problematic relatives.

Throughout it all, Ralphie remains determined to get his hands on that BB gun.

2. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 & 2000)

The Grinch may be a curmudgeonly character, but his heart grows three sizes by the movie’s end, teaching us that the spirit of Christmas can transform even the most Scrooge-like among us.

The 2000 live-action adaptation starring Jim Carrey is also a delightfully entertaining take on the story.

Its stellar cast (including some A-list Hollywood talent) helps bring Whoville’s colorful world to life.

Whether you prefer the original animated version or the recent live-action film, it’s ok.

There’s no denying that Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of the most nostalgic Christmas movies.

3. The Holiday (2006)

The 2006 film The Holiday is one of the most nostalgic Christmas movies.

Set in England and Los Angeles, the movie follows Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet), two women who swap homes for the holidays.

While Amanda is trying to get over a recent break-up, Iris is dealing with the revelation that her husband has been cheating on her.

As the two women get to know each other’s families and friends, they start seeing beauty in their lives.

4. Home Alone (1990)

And who can forget Kevin’s (Macaulay Culkin) inventive ways of protecting his home from burglars?

The movie is also notable for its stellar cast, which includes Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, and Catherine O’Hara.

Home Alone is the perfect holiday film: it’s funny, heartwarming, and will leave you feeling grateful for your own family.

5. Miracle On 34th Street (1947 & 1994)

It’s that time of year again! The leaves are falling, the air is crisp, and most importantly, it’s time to start watching Christmas movies.

While there are many contenders for the title of “most nostalgic Christmas movie,” for many people, the clear winner is Miracle on 34th Street.

The original 1947 film tells the story of a department store Santa who claims to be the real Kris Kringle. The 1994 remake updates the story for a modern audience but still captures the original’s magic.
