Board games for the best game night ever

The best way to get together with friends and family isn’t always the same old dinner party. Break away from routine by inviting your nearest and dearest over for a game night!

Not sure which game to pick that’ll keep everyone entertained? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

We’re sharing our pick of the best board games, so all you need to do is clear some table space and prepare for a great evening of fun and laughter.

1. Watergate

Watergate is best known for being the biggest political scandal in American history, but did you know it’s also one of the best board games?

Played with four teams working together to root out corruption and plot their way back to power, Watergate is perfect for anyone that enjoys a little intrigue!

And if playing as the cover-up crew isn’t your cup of strategy tea, then take heart: there are plenty of loyalties to choose from.

2. My First Stone Age

My First Stone Age might sound like another dull game to add to your best board games collection, but don’t underestimate it just yet!

It’s a kid-friendly version of a more difficult game and is surprisingly quite addictive. Players must gather berries, teeth, and other goods from various spots around the board.

3. Kingdomino

Kingdomino has undeniably earned its spot as one of the best board games! Not only is it a tried and true classic, but it’s an incredibly fun game for people of all ages.

Each player races to build the best kingdom by strategically placing tiles on their lands, trying to rack up the most points at the end of the round.

With simple play rules, yet lots of scope for strategy, Kingdomino offers hours of entertainment – and why stick with just one round?

4. Pit

A classic commodity trading game, it originally hit the market in 1904 and has entertained families and legions of friends ever since.

Developed by a savvy Wall Street man with a love for racing and gambling, Pit was an instant hit from its debut, proving to be both easy to learn and delightfully unpredictable for players who truly embrace the risk factor.

5. Ticket to Ride

It is the perfect way to test your planning and strategizing skills while still getting a good dose of friendly competitiveness with friends and family.

The best part? You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to enjoy it – just bring out a few snacks, and you’re ready for a game night packed with night-long fun!

6. Scattergories

Scattergories is easily one of the best board games around. It’s incredibly versatile, so you’re guaranteed to have a good time no matter your age (or skill level!).

Players must name items that can be found within a certain category, each item beginning with the same letter as chosen by a rolled die – it might seem difficult but trust me, it’s not!

Everyone will have so much fun coming up with creative answers that they won’t even realize they’re learning something new.

7. Castles of Burgundy

With over 20 action tiles, fun dice rolling, and strategic planning, this board game can keep players entertained for hours.

While it looks like a very complicated game at first glance, it’s so simple that even non-gamers could quickly pick up how to play.

If you’re looking for an exciting and intellectually stimulating board game, you can’t go wrong with Castles of Burgundy.

8. Mysterium

Mysterium is one of the best-selling board games for a reason – it’s truly thrilling! Players are divided into two teams: the ghost and the psychics, each with unique challenges.

The ghost’s job is to provide cryptic messages to the psychics through dream-like visions of what happened before their untimely (and possibly supernatural) demise!

Meanwhile, the psychics must decipher these clues and solve the crime to absolve the ghost of their wrongdoings.

9. Spirit Island

The best part of Spirit Island is that its challenging gameplay allows for an immersive experience.

One of my favorite elements about Spirit Island is that you can customize your island by exploring multiple paths, such as land expansion, powerful spirit magic, and destructible enemy forces.

Moreover, victory requires strategy, so you are guaranteed an engaging battle no matter your skill level.

10. Telestrations

Telestrations is one of the best board games you can find if you enjoy socializing and drawing. It combines Pictionary-style drawings and a classic ” Telephone ” game to create pretty hilarious situations among friends.

All players start with a word they must draw, which gets passed around until each person can guess what the mysterious scribble is – but the result can be vastly different from the original creation!
