Richard Rodgers was one of the most successful composers in American history, earning critical acclaim and commercial success with his work on stage and screen.
In 1962, he received the ultimate recognition for his achievements when he became the only person to achieve an EGOT status in the same year.
Helen Hayes
Helen Hayes was one of the most successful actresses of her generation, and the only one to achieve EGOT status.
She won an Emmy in 1953, a Grammy in 1977, an Oscar in 1945, and two Tony Awards in 1932 and 1970.
Rita Moreno
She first gained attention for her role in the 1961 film West Side Story, for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
She starred in several films and television shows throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including The Electric Company and The Ritz.
In 1975, she won a Tony Award for her role in The Ritz. She later won two Emmy Awards for her work on the children’s television show The Electric Company.
John Gielgud
Sir John Gielgud is one of the few actors to have achieved the coveted EGOT status.
He won an Emmy in 1991 for his performance in the miniseries “Reagan,” a Grammy in 1979 for his recording of ” Shakespeare’s Sonnets,” an Oscar in 1981 for his supporting role in the film “Arthur” and two Tony Awards in 1948 for his performance in “Richard III” and 1961 for his turn as Sir Anthony Absolute in “The Critic.
Audrey Hepburn
Audrey Hepburn was one of the most prolific actors of her generation, winning four major awards across various disciplines.
In 1954, she won an Oscar and a Tony for her performances in “The Nun’s Story” and “Ondine,” respectively.
This made her the first person to win both awards in the same year. Hepburn won an Emmy in 1993 for her work on the TV movie “Gardens of the World with Audrey Hepburn” and a Grammy in 1994 for her “Moon River” recording.
Mel Brooks
Mel Brooks is a man of many talents. Not only is he a renowned comedian, but he’s also an accomplished musician, actor, and director.
His impressive work has earned him numerous awards, including four Emmys, three Grammys, an Oscar, and a Tony.
In 2001, he became one of only a few people to achieve EGOT status, cementing his place as one of the most successful entertainers in history.
Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg first became prominent in the 1980s with her role in The Color Purple, for which she received an Oscar nomination.
She starred in a string of hit films, including Ghost, for which she won an Academy Award.
In addition to her work in film, Goldberg has also showcased her talent for comedy and theatre, winning a Tony Award for her one-woman show Whoopi.
She is also a Grammy winner, winning the Best Comedy Album award in 1986. Whoopi Goldberg is truly a powerhouse performer – and her EGOT status is proof of that!
John Legend
In 2018, he won an Emmy for his work on the television show Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.
The following year, he took home another Emmy for his producing work on the album A Legendary Christmas.
He won his first Grammy in 2006 for Best R&B Album and five more over the next decade. In 2015, he won an Oscar for his song “Glory” from the movie Selma.
And finally, in 2017, he won a Tony for co-producing the Broadway musical Jitney. Given his impressive list of awards, it’s no surprise that John Legend is one of the most celebrated artists of our time.
Alan Menken
Alan Menken is one of the most successful composers of our time.
He has won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, and in 2020 he achieved EGOT status by winning a Daytime Emmy.
Menken is best known for his work on Disney films such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas. He has also composed the scores for several Broadway musicals, including Newsies and A Bronx Tale.
Menken’s work is timeless and cherished by people of all ages. His ability to evoke emotion through music is truly exceptional.
Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer Hudson is an American singer, actress, and spokesperson. She rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on American Idol and has since enjoyed a successful career in music and film.
In 2006, she won an Academy Award for her role in the film Dreamgirls, and she has also won a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony.
Hudson is one person to win all four major entertainment awards, and she is the first black woman to do so.
