Even when ordering multiple dishes just over the $50 mark. Grubhub is significantly cheaper by a healthy margin than the competition. 

But those ordering for one or two people may find Uber Eats delivers lower delivery fees of about a dollar less. So it pays to shop around.

Regarding delivery apps, everyone wants to get the best deal. Fortunately, examining delivery totes from three of the big players in this market: DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats reveals that DoorDash consistently has the lowest fees for small orders. 

For orders up to $20, DoorDash led the pack by a wide margin, often costing nearly ten dollars less than Grubhub and six dollars less than Uber Eats. 

If you only order a few items for delivery and want to maximize your savings. Checking out DoorDash should be your first move.

Grubhub is a delivery app that offers lower fees for large orders.

In every order over $75 surveyed in the study, Grubhub either had the cheapest cost or essentially tied with Uber Eats.

DoorDash was significantly more expensive due to its fixed 15% service charge. 

Therefore, if you’re looking to save money while ordering delivery of a large meal or party platter, you should consider using Grubhub for your delivery needs.

Usually, a percentage of the cost, helps cover their operating costs. Depending on your location, this could range from $2.50 to around $7 – 8 per delivery. 

Customers can also subscribe to Grubhub Plus, which charges a fixed fee of only $10 per month and offers free delivery on orders over $12 from participating restaurants! 

Ultimately, your delivery order total comprises food cost plus taxes, delivery fee, service fee, and any tip for the driver you choose to give.

How much does Uber Eats charge in fees?

Delivery fees mostly range from 49 cents to $2.41, making it affordable for the average customer. However, far-away delivery orders and orders with priority delivery will cost more. Typically around $8. 

This fee covers the driver’s efforts to deliver your food promptly and securely. On top of that, users also need to pay taxes, service fees, and tips on their total order costs. 

Although Uber Eats takes up to 30% of each order placed through the delivery app. This number isn’t accessible to consumers. 

So customers can expect the lowest delivery fees even when ordering through this app.

DoorDash is often the lowest fee option for delivery apps, with a flat service fee of 15% of your total bill and a minimum charge of $3. 

This makes quantifying what you are paying easier than its competitors. Who take a much higher percentage for each order but don’t typically make this public knowledge. 

Although it may be more affordable initially, if your bill increases as you add more items or increase the distance delivery radius, the DoorDash fees can become quite high.
